Working in Dubai and the UAE Dubai – totally tax free living Direct personal taxation is against the law in Dubai - the UK wouldn’t go far with a law like that, would it? This means that if you buy a property in Dubai, whether it is intended as a home or if you have invested in it as a buy-to-let, you are not going to be subject to any property taxes. And if you are working there then all of your wages are paid to you intact… no income tax whatsoever - the UK wouldn’t go far with that law either!
Making Dubai better for businesses Since 2002, in an effort to encourage business wise entrepreneurial types with money to invest in Dubai, the government introduced what were known as Free Trade Zones. These are places where foreign businesses can set up shop and establish themselves without being restricted by corporate taxes, for example, and without having the need of a local sponsor, a sleeping partner so to speak, to be entitled to take half of their company assets from them. As a direct result of all of the incentives offered to overseas businesses, take up in the free trade zones has been incredible.
The fastest growing employment market It is no surprise that Dubai is one of the fastest growing employment hotspots in the world. Over 650 companies have set up in Dubai Media City alone, and since the introduction of free trade zones upwards of twenty new companies being established each week. In the fields of tourism, media, information technology and finance especially, there are significant job opportunities available. Other booming industries in Dubai include telecommunications, construction, engineering, oil & gas, medicine, all offering a significant disposable income to their employees. |
