Skiing in Dubai

A winter sports paradise

Winter sports are probably not the first pursuits that come to mind when thinking about Dubai; however it should come as no surprise that the sheikhs have added this attraction to the plethora of activities it is possible to enjoy in this Emirate and provide the locals with a chance to find out what this snow stuff is all about. Whilst the UAE Olympic bobsled team is some way from reaching European standards, at least they now have a place to practice.
As a comprehensive indoor winter sports centre, you can expect to find everything apart from ski-jumping facilities. However since it is possible to extend the facilities, it seems only a matter of time before even this is added to the long list of activities possible in this grand alpine centre at The Mall of the Emirates.

When its 40ºC outside

What better way to stay cool than head to the alpine resort where the temperatures are kept at a wonderfully crisp 2ºC and have a day out with a difference. Ski Dubai is 25 storeys in height, and the main slope is 400M in length, providing an excellent location to practice your schussing. There are five graded runs to challenge skiers of all abilities and the resort is fully equipped with button lifts, T-bars and even a cable car.

For the locals who have never seen snow

Where better to take the kids than the snow park, where they can have the opportunity to have a snowball fight and build a snowman, and experience the real snow flurries in this totally magical setting. If this is not enough, then take them to the world’s first indoor black run, which descends 60M from start to finish or to the permanent 90M half pipe to catch some serious air.
